The fundamentals of the diet are not easy to maintain, however the long term results are more than worth it. If your looking to be as healthy as possible, this is definitely the plan for you. The goal here is to keep the pH balance of your food intake at 80% alkaline with 20% acidity. The bloodstream runs on the alkaline side, so the goal here, is to match that. Going through with the pH diet can be daunting for most, since the foods a lot of people enjoy most are high in acidity. To start achieving this goal, you must first identify good sources of alkaline foods. Composing a list of alkalizing foods will be your first step at making the most out of the pH diet.

Alkalizing foods have a restorative effect on the body. By nullifying the acidity in the bloodstream, alkaline foods are "refreshing" to the system, rejuvenating and repairing damaged cells. The consumption of a lot of acidic foods will cause the body to break down much earlier than it should in life. The bloodstream carries this acid throughout the system, totally annihilating the body. Consuming foods that have an alkalizing effect on the body, can set the pH levels in the bloodstream to the optimum level. On average, the pH level of human blood is between 7.35 and 7.45; levels 7 and above are considered alkaline.

Fruits and vegetables are the easiest ways to get more alkaline into your diet. A few of the fruits that have an alkalizing effect are apples, avocados, blackberries, bananas, cherries, dates, figs, grapefruit, honeydew, lemons, limes, oranges, peaches, pineapple, raisins, raspberries, strawberries, tangerines, tomatoes, and watermelon.

Vegetables that are alkalizing are: alfalfa, beets, beet greens, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, celery, collard greens, cucumber, dandelions, eggplant, garlic, green beans, green peas, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, parsnips, peas, peppers, pumpkin, sea veggies, spinach, sweet potatoes, watercress, wheat grass, and wild greens.

My personal opinion, and this is just my opinion, avoid protein extracted from any animal while following the pH diet. Protein extracted from animals is acidic. There are excellent sources of protein you can add to your diet that will have an alkalizing effect in your bloodstream. Almonds, chestnuts, millet, tempeh, tofu, and whey protein powder are some of them.

Anyone who enjoys to eat knows food taste best when it is seasoned to our delight. Cinnamon, curry, ginger, mustard, sea salt and stevia are some of the spices, herbs and sweeteners we can use that are alkalizing condiments.

Minerals are crucial to ideal health. Did you know that minerals can also have an alkalizing effect on the body? Cesium, potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium are minerals that have an alkalizing effect.

Here are a few other non essentials that can be added to your diet. Apple cider vinegar, bee pollen, molasses, probiotic cultures, veggie juices, fresh fruit juice, and mineral water.

You now know a few of the foods and supplements that will add alkaline to your pH level. Knowing is just the beginning.
If your serious about being healthy and feeling better, implementing the pH diet is an awesome way to head in that direction. It will not be an easy task, but it will be more than worth it. Test your body`s pH levels with a saliva strip test, which is available at most health food stores, before you start the diet. One week after following the plan, test it again. You will be impressed with the results. After one week on the pH diet your energy level will go way up. Keeping your pH level between 7 and 8 is the target for good health.

Be mindful of the goal of the pH diet, which is to have your alkaline intake higher than your acidic intake. This does not mean that you can't enjoy foods that are higher in acidity. The balance of your diet should be geared toward alkaline producing foods. Maintaining a proper pH balance ensures you that your body is performing at its optimum level.

For more information on an alkaline diet click here

This is my first blog

Welcome to my blog about getting healthy.
